Out this week: VARIOUS: Retro Techno Detroit (incl. Juan Atkins, Derrick May, Kevin Saunderson, Blake Baxter, etc.) (Network Retro 2xLP: RETROLP 1 [11.27]) Prime This is a must have album, featuring (if I recall correctly) the fabulous Nude Mix of Strings Of Life, wherein the drums are slowly added with delicious anticipation until the kick drum kicks in for 4 beats, drops out, and the song is over. One of the most emotional tracks of all time. A tape of this album, along with tapes of Biorhythms 1 & 2 (also on Network), were my introductions to Detroit Techno. I must have a copy, though preferably in CD format. Has anyone seen word of a CD release? Che

It's been out of print for the last 3 or 4 years -- nice to see it in print again, as everyone should have a chance to own a copy of that mix of "Strings", IMO the definitive IDM track. -d.w.

What are the mixes of Strings of Life anyway, and what are the differences? I have the two mixes on the US Innovator (Original Mix, Strings of the Strings of life)—is there any real necessity to get the others? For a relatively non- anal non-completist non-trainspotter who wants to hear the "definitive IDM track" but doesn't need to own something he almost already has, do the mixes i have suffice? Sam
