I've got a white label Ninja Tune release (not terribly recent...) 'Illuminati of Hedfuk' - *The Worm Turns*. Does anybody know when this was released? And also titles (one track each side). What else have they done? Have they sunk without trace? Not a name I'm familiar with. THANKS! I * "Incomplete without surface noise" - Autechre

sorry for the late reply, mail server was down for days... on the freezone 3 comp (SSR167) they appear with a really funky track called "Miasma", featuring subsonic bass drums and very sneaky synth lines. while freezone 3 features some really lame tracks, a few absolutely stand out, amongst them this track and a great fila b track (bulls dozing) I haven't seen elsewhere, and make this thing worth getting. cheers, --tom

Thanks everybody who responded with information : I have gotten hold of Freezone 3 (and 2 as well, for that matter). I * "Incomplete without surface noise" - Autechre

About three years ago at least, if memory serves...

I think maybe the copy I saw was a promo too, but I think it was just "The Wordm Turns" on the A-Side and "The Worm Turns" remix on the flip... It may not have been exactly like that, but I pretty sure it wasn't another new track...

I think "The Worm Turns" appeared on the CD of the Flexistentialism comp, but I'm not sure. As for other stuff, I've never seen any...

Oh yes you are. It's Coldcut in disguise! They also record as Hex... I remember not liking The Worm Turns very much, and the same for the Hex stuff. It tended to be more beatless/ambient and not that interesting to me... On a related note, can someone tell me where the Coldcut "Pipe" site has gone, or failing that a N-Tone/Ninja discography? I can't find either... Thanks... Gb. -- /TheW i http://www.homeusers.prestel.co.uk/lwtcdi/all/ f o L D o dlr WTC "Let's decompose and enjoy assembling!"

They have a cool track under that name on one of the Freezone compilations (number 3, I believe). Jacob

quoted 1 line>>>
Ryuichi Sakamoto "Anger/Grief" with remixes by Amon, Talvin Singh, & Chocolate Weasel, released 02/02/98 Ryuichi Sakamoto of the legendary Yellow Magic Orchestra and many other exploits has written and recorded a wonderous classical symphony called DISCORD. In yet another twist in the Ninja fable, Sakamoto requests a strange and brutal re-arrangement of Discord by misc. int'l. heedz. Rare Force - Robin Brunson of Hex, related to Skint and creator of the Coldcut cartoon. Chocolate Weasel - T-Power divested of the industrial and made super bad-fonkee. Amon Tobin - Brazillian Ninja Navigator. Talvin 'Stardust' Singh - Leader of the mystical 'anokhan' underground. http://www.kab.com/m/siteskmt/ <<< the last link doesn't seem to work at the mo'. also news at the site says that t-power in the form of chocolate weasel (great name, and replacing industrial w/ funk is always a bargain imo:-), have a new single/lp coming soon - but no details yet. -martin
