just heard the new (i guess) M:I:5 cd on profan, and i must say, it's really cool--crunchy, repetitive, minimal, way out there. a lot more interesting than the accompanying release, the Andre Brinkman cd on profan (that's mike ink/studio 1, right?). so my question: are these profan releases (the M:I:5 is called "Mabstab," i believe, or "Masstab"--uses that weird german B thing) available on vinyl, or only cd? and then a warning: listened to the new Friend lp, "Hot Rod," and half the tracks seem to come off of other friend releases, either verbatim or in minimally-reworked form. so if you're ordering blind, you may want to wait. the merits of the rest of the tracks weren't great enough for me to justify the expense. phil

I agree with Phil, the M:I:5 is great but the Thomas Brinkman Studio 1 Reconstructions were lackluster compared to the original Studio 1 tracks. And Stuio 1 was Mike Ink's label. That label is now done but his Profan & KLAR labels are still alive and well.

The answer to your question about vinyl versions is yes and no. Yes because there are 2 sampler 12"s with a few tracks off both cd releases but, no there isn't a full vinyl version of either the M:I:5 or the new Pentax albums. -->-Lance--- p.o. box 450715 westlake, ohio 44145 united states
