well, dope dragon is a jungle label dedicated to putting out the work of roni size, dj krust, dj die and dj suv (and probably others) under various aliases. they're already up to #018 or so, so i'm not sure what this "001" is, unless it's a repress (tho juno is usually good about saying so), but even so, neither calix nor pitch black are aliases i'm familiar with from this label (gang related, mask, raid, and swabe are the usual suspects). what category did juno list this under? is it possible someone named their label dope dragon unaware that the name was already taken? jeff

Ah, right. I knew I'd heard of it somewhere.

They had it under Techno, which I why I thought it may be Mira Calix.

Possibly. I've seen releases on a label called Switch, for example, that is not the Canadian label that's been around for a couple of years. On a sort of related note: Did the Freeform 12" on Creative Wax (I *think* that was the label) ever come out, and if so, does anyone know if it was actually Simon Pyke? It was listed as upcoming on Juno, but didn't make it to the "out this week" listings and just disappeared. Greg

It's a new Dope Dragon label - no idea if it's related to the jungle imprint, but I'd guess not. Joe

Hey there. Just saw the followind on Juno's listings for this week: CALIX & PITCH BLACK: Angel Dust EP (Dope Dragon 12": DOPE DRAGON 001 [4.83]) Prime Anyone know if this is Mira Calix? And why does the label seem familiar to me? Thought it might've been affiliated with Worm Interface, but is that Dragon Disc? Greg

This is a project of Sydney dj BizE and a friend of his and Dope Dragon is the name of the label. He's got a pretty tasty track on the Trans Pacific Express double CD. They usually do acidic Detroit techno but I also heard that they wanted to put out some hip-hop. -- Chris
