Here's some unexpectedly valid ambient stuff. Olivia Tremor Control are basically a psychedelic pop band, but their CD "Music From the Unrealized Film Script: Dusk at Cubist Castle" came with a "bonus ambient disc" which is now being sold separately on CD (Flydaddy FLY017X). Not exactly Good News For Modern Man, but something IDM related, at least. Although I never actually considered ambient to be dance music. But people talk here, and the general sound of it is "yak yak yak". Never change, people. I recorded IZ-US this morning instead of tying my shoes. I plan to become the world's most popular musician by talking about the ease of recording brilliant music that doesn't exist. Now, if I could just get people to pay for all this talk. ... and don't forget the same characters' BLACK SWAN NETWORK disk, _The Late Music_, released on Australia's Camera Obscura label. more of that cut-up Stockhausian p/redigested tape garble ambience. sounds almost identical to Nurse With Wound! but something tells me that Stevie Stapleton is a most unlikely influence for these moonlighting Elephant 6 popsters. maybe it's just the far-out arrangements of the Beach Boys or the tape-stuff in which the Beatles dabbled carried to a 90's DIY extreme. sounds excellent, whatever the story may be. cheers!
