I know it is impossible to please everyone on the list, but I would nevertheless like to have a clearer idea of what most of you are looking for as far as reviews of electronic music are concerned. Personally, describing each song on a certain release literally doesn't suite my tastes. I would like to take from a review an sort of idea of the overall "feeling" of a release, what the release sounds like in relation the the artists' previous efforts, where the release loosely falls in the idm spectrum, etc. What about you? What kinds of things does the perfect review include? I hope to put the responses I get to this post to use not only in writing more informative and relevent reviews to the list, but also to better the reviews section of my upcoming e-zine. Remeber to consider whether your replies will be relevent to the topic of the list and respond in private/public accordingly. Way! Personally, I'm enamored with allusions, allusions, allusions! I want text I can spread on bread, pop in my ziplock, and munch with lunch. I'd rather catch the spirit of the music then measure it's BPM or brand it with a buzzword. There's a place and time for gear checking and theory flexing, but offered alone, those six figure playboy stats (36-24-34) don't do much for my imagination zone. Teep np: cool g rap and dj polo
