It' called "Matrix" and it's a 2cd set; but only one CD of music. The 2nd CD is just all the samples they used to create "Solutions for a Small Planet." Decent, certainly, but way too "standard" idm, whatever that means, less of haujobb's ebm slant (which made SFaSP so interesting). Is it just me, or is Cichlisuite really mediocre (and at the moment, Autechre is probably my most listened to group of musicians). And isn't the Autechre remix of Merzbow absolutely stunning?

It's just you. I thought it was stunningly better than the last album.

I concur, and I loved the last album. with cichlisuite it seems taht the Ae cats have more totally explored the boundries their sound...they've continued to push the (non)limits. Personally I can't help but to wonder exactly what they will sound like in a year or so. the whole ep opens up with yeesland, a track that suprises you and moves at a nice pace, only to "decay" and become laced with beautiful melodies, in autechre fasion. the ep only gets better from there, with the random qualites of pencha (and the powerful bass that kicks in eventually), the apparently slightly out of sync and jolted characi, the breathtaking synth washes of krib, and finally things finish off with tilapia, which is a song that moves like yeesland: the boys have come full circle. when the synths finally fade out after a half an hour or so, you are obligated to hit "repeat" as fast as you can, before the disc changes on your 6-disc. this ep sounds, on the whole, much more varied than chiastic slide, and there are apparent subtle variations in the songs as well. pencha is one of my favorite tracks right now. to sum things up scroll back and check the first line again. retal. andy.
