First off, did anyone pick up the Portishead single "All Mine"? All I can say is that this is the WORST Portishead track I have ever heard. And I'm not too happy about them including "Cowboys" and "Cowboys (Instrumental)", which I paid too much for on the "Cowboys" single anyways. ...as for Orbital, does anyone have any info on the 2nd US release of "In Sides"? From what I heard, this was extremely limited because of the Bon Jovi sample which they didn't have rights for or something. Info on this would be appretiated. -- Via DLG Pro v1.0 - Edwin Wong (edwin_wong@kiwi.com) - Toronto, Ontario, Canada ------------- UnOfficial Nothing Records Richard D. I've seen it claimed several times that the release with the live "Halcyon" was recalled because of the samples, but lots of shops still stock it, so I wouldn't give those claims much weight. (Unless there's a *third* US release, with packaging identical to the second, without "Halcyon" on it). I don't think it's more limited than the initial US run with "Times Fly" and "The Box." As far as I know, this is pretty common - you should be able to find it almost anywhere. If it is off the shelves, there should be a healthy reserve. You can get the same tracks by buying the Saint single, Satan 1-3 singles, but you cannot get halcyon+on+on(live) anywhere else (CD-wise), as far as I know. I still prefer the earlier 2 disc release with The Box EP included. == Chris Layne =============================== Flames to my private email == == coredump@nervosa.sf.ca.us ====== http://www.nervosa.sf.ca.us/~coredump ==

The new 2nd CD to which you're referring has Satan, Satan Live, the Saint, the Sinner, and Halcyon Live (w/ cuts from Bon Jovi and Belinda Carlilse (heaven is a place on earth, which is played backwards I might add). At any rate, it seems that one of them (or both) got upset about some legal crap, so all of the 2nd CD's now in production don't have the Halcyon Live track.. real shame, it rocks. As for availability, find an In Sides that was put out right after the Saint was released and there's a good chance Halcyon will be on the second disc. Still not as good as the original 2nd disc w/ the 28 min ver of the box and slow and fast versions of Times Fly IMHO, but what can you do... .jeremy.

My winning strategy: scour all the used shops looking for used copies of In Sides, and whenever you find one, bring it to the front counter asking to see the second CD before you'll decide whether to buy it. If it has "Halcyon (live)" you've got it. I just picked it up this last weekend. I first heard this track on AMP, of all places - I was half-asleep and suddenly I hear this Bon Jovi track, and I thought I was having a nightmare! The music is pretty decent, though not much progress is evident. In fact it may be a step backward. The vocals are fine, too. But they don't go together. It sounds like one of those remixes where the original track was full of chord changes and key changes, but the remix sticks to one note. Mark Stewart did some great lo-fi, megaphone-throated, highly-damaged songs on his 3rd album (the one with the microchip on the cover). Produced with Adrian Sherwood. It contains a cover of the theme song from _Merry Christmas, Mr. Lawrence (sp?)_ which starts off distorted and creepy. By the end it has fallen apart, into a mess of tangled tape. You can't go wrong. --Mark
