I've got a meeting with our booking agent tomorrow at which time I'll post
all the dates and venues. Tour stops are...Detroit, Chicago, Minneapolis,
Vancouver, Seattle, San Francisco, L.A, and possibly Los Vegas. Lineup for
each show is Coldcut/Hex (Live), DJ Food (4 Deck DJing), and Kid Koala.
Coldcut's live set just kept getting more awesome each night of the east
coast tour. By the time we do these shows it's definitly going to be even
better.
Basically there set consists of Jon and Matt remixing the new record. Half
is mixed off there computers (utilizing 'Playtime' the software we are
giving away with the 'Let Us Play' CD) while most of the vocals are
scratched in off of vinyl plates that we cut. It's a vey different set each
night depending on how funky the computers are feeling. We set 2 big
screens up on each side of the stage on which Hex project there visuals.
During Coldcut's set there visuals also supply some of the samples that you
hear in the audio mix (ie. bombs exploding in 'Atomic Moog 2000',
protestors yelling in 'Panopticon'). At the last show on this last tour (in
Montreal) there was a wicked bit where Hex looped the 'King of the
Swingers' part from the Jungle Book on the screens and in the audio while
Coldcut played a Peter Thomas (the really funky bit from 'Chariots of the
Gods') loop and Kid Koala, P.C, and Strictly Kev all scratched over top of
it.
To answer the biggest question we have been getting. Coldcut's set is
completly live and improvised each night expect for 'Natural Rhythm' and
'Timber'. At that point Coldcut sit back while Hex screen the videos. It's
just as much a Hex show as a Coldcut show.
