just picked up the new PIGFACE CD 'cause i heard mr. mj "scorn" harris was on it and it had a big sticker on it that said "bonus chillout dub cd included"....the first "normal" cd is pretty darn mediocre(tho they do a pretty mild drum n' bass song). the second "dub chillout" cd is attrocious!!!! the music is ok; just pedestrian echo-on-10 dub-by-numbers(Harris just plays bass on auto-pilot--he didn't have anything to do with writing/producing it ), but unfornunately G. P-Orridge rambles on-and-on-and-on over the entire 50 minutes(!!!). oh my goodness, such pretentious sub-sub-sub- sub-Burrough's rambling makes that dork from the Prodigy seem inteligent. i can't fully express how horrendous it is. sheesh, i'm breaking out in a cold-sweat just thinking about it. oh well, i have no-one to blame but myself. (i mean pigface for god's sake...what was i thinking). anyway, just a warning....

it's nothing amazing, but i do kind of like gub. it's got a 10 live drummers in one room feel to it, with guitars. not as good as washingmachinemouth, and not as bad as some of those other fucking ones. did you know that shonen knife were members of pigface?

i was initially rather disappointed with gub (considering all of the big names in industrial music appearing on the album) but after listening to the album during one of my first major psychedelic experiences it's become one of the more memorable albums i've ever owned. i'm not saying it's anywhere near my personal top-ten, but it does have its endearing qualities. oh, as far as i've ever been able to tell, the shonen knife "appearance" on the album "notes from thee underground" was a three second sample of them saying "fuck it up, pigface." hmm... i guess that would qualify them as some of them longer lasting members of the group...
