The mind over rhythm collab album is excellent. I'd personally rate it higher than the music for adverts album.

The Repeat album is quite good too. I still like the mind over rhythm collab better though. Is there a remix album of the repeat album? Hadn't heard of this. T.

Is "Not for Threes" the name of the Plaid album? Have any idea what tracks are on it? This is simply the most eagerly awaited album of '97 for me. Almost as much as the new Sundays album. Next comes Bjork. Now only if New Order would get back together... YES!! YES!! I just heard them for the first time last week (substance) (yeah, yeah, i know).. they rock hands down, no question about it. And don't even try to have your own opinion.. ;) THEY ROCK. In any case, from what I've heard of plaid, I love them. What do they have that is available on CD? --brett On , 19 August 1997, at 13:39:33, James wrote:

yep - that is the name of Plaid's new album. no track listing yet. it'll probably be a while before advance copies are released from the holding bays at Warp Ctrl. WARP 54 ... scheduled for release on 10.13.97

Plaid haven't put out a single CD out yet (as opposed to 12"); the Undoneson EP on Warp will be their first. But some stuff is around on CD: - Two tracks from their amazing Clear 12" are on the "It's all becoming..." Clear comp, along with an ace remix of a GFQ tune. - Remixes of many a Bjork single from her Post album, plus a nice dnb remix of Big Time Sensuality. - Remixes of Nicolette singles as well as much of her album. - They helped Nicolette with her DJ Kicks mix CD, and she and Plaid added a special track on it. - Remix of Red Snapper on the Mooking EP. - Remix of Studio Pressure (aka Photek) on the Relics EP. - Remix of Soft Ballet on the Forms remix album. - Two EPs, Freestyle and Lifers, with their friends under the moniker Kushti. I'm not sure if Freestyle is out on CD, but all of its three tracks have appeared in numerous comps. - Collaboration album with Mind Over Rhythm. - Remix of UNKLE on their Time Has Come... single. - A single of one of the Freezone comps as Crewmutiny (sp?). - Remix of As One on the remix comp from a couple of years ago. And of course Ed and Andy were part of the Black Dog, but that's another story. Heck, why didn't I just point you to Stuart's discog? Check out: http://dialspace.dial.pipex.com/mfr/bdd.htm Seems to be down for now though. Save your money - buy "Music For Adverts" by The Black Dog - it's MUCH more inspired than any of this. If you really must, there's a CD of them (along w/ Mark Broom) under the moniker Repeat, the album name is Repeats (and I think there's a remix album as well). They also did (a rather lame) track on Ninebar's Rumpus Room comp. But again, it's all techno-by-numbers compared to Music For Adverts. Watch for my Ken vs. Ed & Andy review coming soon... Che

unfortunately most of the stuff on CD is pretty boring and doesnt compare tothe mbuki mvuki LP which is where the track 'anything' off the clear ep originally came from, and the accompanying 'scoobs in columbia 12"'... Dont even bother looking for these! they came out around 1990 and ive seen the LP go for about £100 ($160!!) in a shop in london.... my advice is to get someone who owns it to burn you a cd : ) This is why records are deleted!!?? Hello - Someone tell me more about Plaid, quick! Just heard an amazing track entitled "Rakimou". Strings, accordion, haunting vox, atmospherics, dubby beats. Out of 100 records listened today, this and a klezmer record were the only ones to move me. 3

Someone tell me more about Plaid, quick! Well, Plaid rock...but they don't make it!!! For a little information on them try... http://www.smallfish.co.uk/pondlife/pondlife/docs/pondnews.html and then go to the "artist" section...for a full plaid discography, photos and a few words from....Plaid themselves. Restproof Clockwork is featured on the "releases" section of the magazine along with ten 40 second sound samples... They are undoubtedly fine... Oh, and enter the competition to win either 20 12"s or 10 LPs/CDs from the smallfish catalogue!!!! ...justusfish ps... whenever you see a fish, click it for sounds... :) _________________________________________________________ Do You Yahoo!?
