Hello, Someone recently mentioned DJ Scud. I have a song of his that samples the punk band Exploited. I was wondering if anyone knew of idm artists that have sampled punk successfully. It seems that punk samples would be obvious for DH acts, but idm? Thanks in advance. cheers, frank ____________________________________________________________________ Get free email and a permanent address at http://www.netaddress.com/?N=1 --------------------------------------------------------------------- To unsubscribe, e-mail: idm-unsubscribe@hyperreal.org For additional commands, e-mail: idm-help@hyperreal.org

Not totally IDM, but DJ Hive (? I think that's who it was) sampled a Bad Brains track a couple of years ago. Atari Teenage Riot (or Alec Empire) sampled Bad Brains. Three Wheels Out (side project of the main dude from Skylab) sampled punk progenitors the Stooges on a 12" put out a few years ago by Pussyfoot (I think). Renegade Soundwave sampled the Clash's "White Riot" on "The Phantom." That's all for now. Speaking of Ultrasonic Sound, the new Dillinja remix is really cool (no Bad Brains samples in that one). The Vortex record label is off to a good start with Pieter K (Vortex 01) and Dillinja rmx of Hive (Vortex 02). --- anything@synthesizer.org wrote:

Well, I guess technically a few of my tracks have punk samples. I've taken guitar riffs and vocal samples from a few bands, especially vocal samples form Propagandhi. Also, if you check out Bombardier, an artist on Low Res (http://www.lowres.com), he samples a few punk bands including Minor Threat and even an old Nirvana cover of "Return of the Rat." -- :: atomly :: atomly@atomly.com | atomly@atdot.org | atomly@cyrus.net http://www.atomly.com | http://www.mp3.com/atomly [CELL|(888)522.3830] | [CELL|(701)729.1631] | [HOME|(651)748.8676] --------------------------------------------------------------------- To unsubscribe, e-mail: idm-unsubscribe@hyperreal.org For additional commands, e-mail: idm-help@hyperreal.org

Hey! Someone else that knows the Locust (not "Locust," but "the Locust" -- the sci-fi grind band from San Diego with the big hair, not that wuss from Europe or whatever ;) )... Actually that CD is on GSL, but I'll let it slide this time. The Locust are coming out with a whole 12" of remixes. I don't know if Kid 606 is doing it all though... news at http://www.threeoneg.com -Andy! --- Magicnerd8@aol.com wrote:
