Speaking of which, if you've ever seen the Todd Haynes movie "Safe"
you'll know just how beautiful and creepy all the little subtle sounds
are that the things around us make. He captured the hum of lights, the
whistle of distant climate control systems, the bubbling of pipes. All
the tiny sounds made by the technology around us - it may be driving us
all mad. When I turn the backlight on my USR Pilot in the middle of the
night, the little hum it makes can be unbearable!
