Can anyone tell me about "Bathtime," the bonus track on the Japanese version of LFO's 'Advance'? Can anyone compare the "R&S Remix" of Balil's "Nort Route" to the original? Is "Orbital Therapy Part Four" of Sun Electric's "O'locco" worth getting? I already have the first three parts on the CD5 (and I'm not that big a fan of the track to begin with). If Tom Jenkinson were a rock guitarist, who would he be? I have two theories... :) C. -- cspot@hyperreal.com (Chris.Hilker)

I heard it a *long* time ago (and, dufus-like, didn't buy it), but I remember it being more solidly four-to-the-floor than the original. I wish I could tell you more, but I haven't seen the record (_ART 1_ EP on R&S) anywhere in a while. :( Surely some IDM'er *must* own it.... ;) - Matthew

Some things on my mind... - I loved Herbie Hancock's "Nobu" from the recent Checkone 2CD comp. The notes say the track is from "Dedications". Is there such an album? I looked in a couple of stores and couldn't find it, much less anything with "Nobu" on it. - Any reviews of DJ Krush's new one, "Mi Light", out now in Japan? I remember Yak mentioned a while back that this was a collaborative concept album... I heard "Mr. Kirk" by 4hero recently, and I want to know if that song is typical of their (his?) work. Is that CD worth buying? Also, these aren't really IDM, but what is a good Loards of Acid CD to start with? And is the Mortal Kombat soundtrack any good (I heard it was techno). Thanks a lot, Adam P.S. Is there a techno mailing list?

Mr.Kirk is typical of 4Hero's 1st album "In Rough Territory", which is more of a ravey, breakbeat kind of album. It is not typical of of the 2nd album "Parallel Universe", which is seminal drum & bass. If you like the track you'll like the CD single. It's my least favorite track on the album, so I'd be happy to sell you my copy of the single for $7 + shipping. Che

The mortal kombat soundtrack is good to hear while watching the movie in a theatre with a bottle of rum in yer tummy. At least, that's my experience of it. Well, I've also heard it sober, and it blows. -CF

This may be old school, but I'm back on the list after many months. On the NME website this week, there is a review of the rerelease of Lalo Schiffrin - 'Bullitt' theme song. the interesting thing is that it says it comes with three Black Dog remixes. Anybody heard it? NME gave it thumbs up. Also, I found Soma Quality Recordings CD001, and I was wondering what year it came out? There's no indication on the art. Phil Downey onnow: Objet's d'Art disc 2 last not this list: WZBC played the industrial cover version of "The Facts of Life" theme song. Apparently there is a double cd of industrial covers. Quite funny.

1. I'm looking for early 1980s house stuff particularly influenced by the Funk stuff that was happening in that era. Where's a good start? Preferably newer CDs that collect that stuff as I want some hard bumpin sound not some shit 8track mixtape. 2. Anyone know any tracks with MCs over fast and furious breaks? A good example is that track on DJ spooky's subliminal kid where Kool Kieth is rapping over some nice thick nearly breakcore beats, super fast. Not jungle of course, I'm mainly looking for harsher and faster beats a la Ambush or Praxis stuff...and no DHR please ;B Thanks! -Jon --------------------------------------------------------------------- To unsubscribe, e-mail: idm-unsubscribe@hyperreal.org For additional commands, e-mail: idm-help@hyperreal.org

is something else out there in musicspace as good as snd on makesndcassette? amon tobin - new album in may - it would be the greatest month ever - but i have my final exams... pity please... what about funkstörung - album soon on k7? info - please! what about laub - hope to listen to them soon live and on a new album with greatest lyrics ever (despite of björk and tocotronic...) help: what to listen to after aphex twin, funkstörung, autechre, mille plateaux, pizzicato five, amon tobin, alec empire, oval? which alec empire releases are in style similar to the destroyer? thanx for help... who else reads de-bug, thinks after reading the reviews, he/she will be bankrupt because of having to buy to much cds and then is disappointed because no cd fits to your taste? kompakt sound, minimalism - is nice sometimes, but buying it for repetitious music with some effect but superficial atmosphere (in contrast to snd). i can loop with my pioneer cd-player - i can do loop techno on my own - yeah... and dnb ends in its own sound aestheticism... finito --------------------------------------------------------------------- To unsubscribe, e-mail: idm-unsubscribe@hyperreal.org For additional commands, e-mail: idm-help@hyperreal.org
