WARPCD51 (promo CD): "Radio Mix" by Autechre Is this the same material that was broadcast on RealAudio some time ago? I never heard it. Anyway, here goes: Track 1: Music (59:00) 0:00- 6:18 Track 1 6:18-12:04 Track 2 (Autechre goes drum & bass) 11:56-16:52 Track 3 (Same effect on the vocals like in "Key Nell") 16:47-23:40 Track 4 23:40-24:47 Film sample 24:47-29:49 Track 5 (Funky thing) 29:41-35:43 Track 6 (Dubby thing) 35:32-43:50 Track 7 43:20-52:31 Track 8 52:31-59:00 Track 9 Track 2: Words (3:35) The music is not as homogenous as on the album, it contains both more traditional Autechre tracks, some abstract music of the "Chiastic Slide" style, and some new ideas -- among other things a very unique interpretation of drum & bass. I'd say this is better than "Chiastic Slide" but then I'm probably not intelligent enough for that album. <g> Neatly mixed together, too. The second track is Sean and Rob talking about what you would expect them to be talking about (releases, how they met, track names, the robot in the "Second Bad Vilbel" video and so on). However as time proceeds, more and more time-stretching, sound effects etc. are added to their talking so at the end it's very difficult to hear what they say. Pretty cool done. This promo CD is highly recommended and if it's not going to be released commercially (Greg?) then I suppose it will end up as an expensive collector's item. But since I see no reason for keeping music of this quality restricted to "the inner circle" (which I'm not a part of by the way, I borrowed the CD), I'll make tape copies for those interested -- just send me a blank tape and two IIRC's or US$5 if it's easier. Tape trades are also welcome. E-mail me if you're interested. it was a promo item for radio djs - who are hardly innercircle. it is identical to the autechre radio real audio broadcast. it will not be released. the idea of comparing it to Chiastic Slide is quite bizarre. it's just a radio show. g.

i always thought innercircle were the ones with that la-la-la-la-long song. however, remember ISDN? "just a radio show"... bull i'd say. if it works on the radio, it'll work on vinyl. -- franz enmark --- extra terrestrial -- -- there's a sheep loose in the lane, -- -- there's a goose asleep in the rain -- -- http://tbm.scicom.se/plod/ --- od? --

Radio DJs may not be inner circle but they're not in my circle. :( It also may be just a radio show, but some of us aren't connected enough to get our ears near this. A release would be genuinely appreciated. Jon

Someone posted earlier they had a tape/copy of the radio show. Also if anyone is interested, I burned a CD of the show when it was broadcast. If you haven't heard it, or are an Autechre trainspotter and don't mind the quality (it's Real Audio mono, which sounds basically like many bootlegs), I'd tape it for ya- Nate On Mon, 24 Mar 1997, Jon Litchfield wrote:
