Ironically, thanks to the Audio Home Recording Act, owners of DATs and
other digital recording devices who make digital copies of copyrighted
material for private use are exempted from copyright infringement
liability (in return for this, record labels get royalties for every DAT
or other digital recording device) sold.
Do plain old analog recording devices (with arguably shittier fidelity)
get this protection? Nope. wierd innit?
