is nooone interested in progression anymore?
are you all satisfied with an artists' particular sound, enough to desire
recording after recording of the same thing? (hmm, then i think the
chemical brothers new one is for you)
the (dare i say it) *amazing* 'orbus terrarrum' was
leagues ahead of 'ultraworld' and 'uforb'. on terrarum patterson went
deeper, creating this dense deep deep sonic halllucination, filled to the
brim with fierce emotion and melody *without losing his sense of humor*.
pre-fritz orb was great, trippy, fun music. post-fritz brought a new
element of emotion. 'pommes
fritz' was a growth period, obviously bridging the gap between uforb and
terrarum (this period also including the half-assed 'valley' as well) i
saw them on the last tour (for terrarum) and, even though it was the
fourth time i'd seen them, it was absolutely fucking amazing, and sticks
in my mind as one of the best live gigs i've ever seen. while i have the
utmost respect for the orb's pre-'fritz' stuff, stick 'blue room' next to
'montagne d'or' and i'll take the latter any day.
