Well, if released domestically, it would mean the difference of getting it for 12.99 on Monday and getting it for much more a few weeks from now... I have to admit though, theres just something different about a release when you know you actually had to go to some effort to get it... __________________________________________ sfwd@sonic.net *sfwd* industrial.techno.gothic music resources page http://www.sonic.net/~brap/

Not to mention the fact that it might be *better*; let's not forget that the U.S. domestic issues of "Tri Repetae" and "Richard D. James" are superior (and better value for money) than the UK Warp issues ...

Yeah ... it's called "the pain in your arse". (Tell that to the people on this list who live in East Armpit, Kansas ... for whom *everything* comes under the category of "actually had to go to some effort to get it" ... ) - Greg (Who is very glad he's no longer a trainspotter and who is very happy to wait extra time to get 6 extra tracks or an extra CD. And who laughs at the pathetically sad gits who wait for dub plates to be auctioned off, since they're gonna be considered "outdated" by the time of the next week's auction ... )

Sure there is! You have two copies too many of Girl/Boy, and if you want to listen to RDJ you either have to get up and flip it or get up and shut it off. Anyone want to trade a Sire for a Warp? No? I didn't think so... e

let me see.. bought warp g/b on vinyl and cd to own both.. (?) bought RDJ on vinyl, then bought Sire RDJ becoz they sold out of Warp RDJ on CD. ? :-) I bought mine the same exact way, except it was liek this: bought warp girl/boy on cd and vinyl (coz I still bought cd's but wanted vinyls for when I got 2 sl1200's, and later I decided to stop buying cd's.) warp RDJ on vinyl coz it was only 15$, on CD it was $21, didn't have enough money to get it on CD, and later I never got it on CD coz I decided to stop buying CD's. -- __ __\ \ Aurafix aka Hillie / PHD ^ DAMONES / /_\ \ http://www.clark.net/pub/buh/index.html \_____/ >> buh@clark.net >> < > .. >> .<>> >> > , m7= Do re mi fa so la ti .. yep. I think you've lost me, aren't they all copies, that is they were copied from the original master recording. The only true original is the one they recorded to the DAT/ADAT or whatever medium when the artist was in their respective studio. Just a thought or two.... ;-)

Nope, the only originals are either the ones stored as .MIDI files on their harddisk, or, failing that, the ideas floating around in their minds......so try stealing that!! GO ON GO ON!!! TRY STEALING THEIR MINDS!! i dare you... -- Ben Coffer Hybrid Productions http://www.hybridgame.demon.co.uk/

With all this excitement about the broadcast yesterday, perhaps people have overlooked that Chiastic Slide is released on Monday. Good though it is, I don't regard the radio mix as serious Ae work. This cannot be said of CS - the most intense and fully-realised Booth/Brown release yet. Scary, beautiful, fractured, weird. I've only heard a few RA preview clips, but I'm terribly excited about the release. I was wondering if anyone knew if WaxTrax still released Warp/Ae material domestically for the US? I have yet to see 'Envane' surface and mailordered it... I had planned on advance ordering this (but had to order blech) so was wondering if theres any chance of it being released on Monday via WaxTrax? Otherwise, its mailorder or long trip to the city... __________________________________________ sfwd@sonic.net *sfwd* industrial.techno.gothic music resources page http://www.sonic.net/~brap/

Author: buh@clark.net at NRG wrote anyhow, since it's a copy really, you don't have that feeling of owning an original. Alright, it is time for a history lesson. Unfortunately, I don't remember enough history to deliver the lesson. I do remember the original author, however. For next class you must all read E. Gombrich's seminal essay "Art in the Age of Mechanical Reproduction." For a simpler version of many of the same thoughts try Berger's teeny book of 5 essays "Ways of Seeing." The question is, when copies can accurately portray the original work, what is the role of the original? Discuss matt
