Hello Again, Is it me or do we tend to squabble over the same old tired (yet true) artists, labels, and issues!?! I want to open up the floor by throwing a few new subjects into the pit. Let's see what happens when I mention: - Simon Beggs (aka Si Begg, Cabbageboy, Buckfunk 3000) & Mosquito Records - Vert & Bovinyl - Jimpster & Freerange Records - Klute (aka Override, Forensic, Spectre) - Chrome (new Force Inc / Mille Plateaux offshoot) Records - Language Recordings - Incoming Records - Octopus Records Just tryin' to stir things up! discreetly, L.B. P.S. Oh yeah, one more... - David Kristian

There's a Buckfunk 3000 track featured on the TEEX5 compilation coming out January 27th in the UK. It's a brilliant excursion in dubby muted drum'n bass full of blurps and bloops. Not much else to say... just one of the nicer tracks from the double-CD.
quoted 1 line - Klute (aka Override, Forensic, Spectre)> - Klute (aka Override, Forensic, Spectre)
There was an hardcore industrial dewd from Denmark named Claus Larsen, who had a side project called Klute releasing I think 3 CDs on Cleopatra in North America and Zoth Ommog in Europe. Tightly written powerful medleys of guitar-driven industrial schlonk. Probably not the same guy though. Claus Larsen is better known for his synth project Leæther Strip. onnow: Autechre "Chiastic Slide" (warp promo) Lame Thread Prevention in Effect: Aaron Michelson --------------------------------------------------------------------- aw-teck'r (autechre) "Everything you Know is Wrong" For reviews, interviews, art & trash http://www.on-it.net/~aaron/ aaron@defiant.on-it.net

Since then I've heard a release on chrome that I liked mucho... I'd love to see some kind of rough discog btw, what is mosquito records?

Damn, I hate doing this, but "me, too". ;=P Are they gonna be more of the same as MP and Force, Inc.? I'd imagine they'd be doing different stuff, therefore another label..... cya brian ObElectronica: new Silver Apples 7" - disappointing, but still a bit interesting

I don't know about a discog, but I did get a great Si Begg 12" on tresor a few weeks ago.

I believe it is Christian Vogel's label. I have a few records on this label. The best being one called Blue Arsed Fly which is a collaboration between Vogel and Neil Landstrum. Good hard techno. There's also a cool 12" comp (which I'm still looking for) called "Fresh as you Fuckin Like" featuring tracks by Si Begg, Steve Paton and Russ Gabriel. -->-Lance--- p.o. box 450715 westlake, ohio 44145 united states

This person is obviously insane. New music?, labels?, who has the time. God, imagine trying to run a label with this keener. Whatever J.

There... Now that's a start!!! Anyway, Simon Beggs (who records as Bigfoot, Si Begg (Tresor, Chrome, Spymania), Buckfunk 3000 (Language), and Cabbageboy (Ninja Tune/N-Tone) has been producing some of the most interesting (and varied) electronica around! His work generally has a dark crunchy feel to it, yet is still quite melodic and at times, funky... He currently co runs Mosquito records with Christian Vogel and is setting up his own new label called "Noodles", which is promised to be as eclectic and varied as Simon himself! Meanwhile, check out his release on Chrome and the latest N-Tone single for a good indication of where he's at! Speaking of Chrome, they're a newish imprint set up by the fine folks at Force Inc. So far, releases have appeared from Kerosene, Techno Animal, Alec Empire, and Si Begg... All are excellent if you like a dark approch to your "ewrecktronica"! Enjoy all! discreetly, L.B.

i reviewed Vert's "Broken Breakbeat Bebop EP" 12" when it came out. the general reaction was that Vert was just some skaterpunk kid undeserving of my "next Luke V" comparisons. i still disagree (and everyone who's picked it up has thanked me for the recommendation), but... any mention of Language usually passes without making so much as a ripple in the IDM pool. even though the Endemic Void LP/12"s are world-class d&b on a jazzy tip, BioMuse are brilliant beyond compare, and the two _Miscellaneous_ compilations feature: Pussyfoot's fab HEADRILLAZ (as Tranquil Elephantizer") the incomparable IAN POOLEY (if he's not I.DANCE.M, who is?!) Black Dog Ken's friend, NAD one of TIM WRIGHT's first post-Germ excursions (remixing "Steve C") TONY WILSON of Snappy Sid/Psyche/Boymerang/Scratch fame DAVID "outspoken but-always-right Wire eccentric" TOOP Selector's classy d&basers, PHUME ...among others. miss these two cds and risk falling behind forever. and i recently mentioned the latest (essential) offerings from incoming! - Nonplace Urban Field's _Golden Star_, Unitone HiFi's "Foxy Frotters" EP and _Boomshot!_ LP (you won't find better dub anywhere north of Jamaica, mon!) - not to mention the incoming! back-catalogue of outstanding records, everything from Lagowski's SETI "X-Files" soundtracks to the Hassell/Bluescreen-like Cosa. but they say you can only LEAD a horse to the water. . . i'll add to Discreets' list: none of these gems should pass without mention/discussion: (all reliably excellent labels, too) Detroit Escalator Co - 313 Soundtracks (Ferox) Porter Ricks - Biokinetics (Chain Reaction) RA-X - Ministek 12" (KK) Some More Crime - Fuzzysets (SMC) Cool Breeze / Kid Loops - Special Projects (Filter) David Shea/DJ Grazhoppa - Up River Down Stream (Downsail Plastics) Gas - s/t (Mille Plateaux) V/A - Water Communication (~Swim) V/A - The Broken Voice (Sprawl/Suburbs of Hell) MRM - Minimal Resource Manipulations (Suburbs of Hell) Exact Life - Geronimo (Suburbs of Hell) ... see a pattern here? ;-) Kosma - Universal (Infracom) Coldcut - Atomic Moog EP (Ninja Tune) Neotropic - 15 Levels of Magnification Remixes EP (NTone) Small Fish With Spine - The Hilltop EP (Apollo) Amon Tobin (Cujo) - Creatures 12" (NTone) Flexitone - Electricity 12" (Planet E) ...shall we begin? :) GuerillaG2-G4/ gg np: my first unmixed rough 4-track d&b efforts. look out, world!
