Various Artists: Dream Injection 2 ---------------------------------- 1996 Euro Media, Germany I can't believe this stellar comp hasn't been mentioned around here. Trusted insider passed a copy on to me, and it's seriously beautiful. Looking to get volume 1 tomorrow. Two discs of some of the best. If ever there was a worthy successor comp to the famed and beloved Artificial Intelligence series, from which no third volume is yet forthcoming to the music-starved masses. Some highlights: Autechre Basscadet (Beaumont Hannant two mix) Speedy J The Oil Zone (Edge of Motion Mix) Pentatonik Credo (amazing! anyone know more???? - ed) Orbital Open Mind (remix) Haujobb Manifestation Sabres of Paradise Balld of Nicky McGuire Download Attalal (Biosphere Remix) Immersion Envolope Beaumont Hannant Sudafelm (just superlative) Mu-Ziq Swan Vesta Aphex Twin Start As You Mean To Go On And that's only about half the contents. The roster should speak for itself, but anyway: Excellent, intelligent, consistently of the highest quality. My nerve shock call: COMP OF THE YEAR 1996. Alright, it's tied with Blech. Buy this one or miss out. Zenon M. Feszczak Philosophist

+------ One of things which make imported compilation so good is the fact that these European labels can assemble them without regard to copy write problems (record company conflicts) associated with trying to compile a similar disc in the USA. Both DI One and DI Two are good (I have them both), but by far and away the best import compilation I have is called "Techno Nights, Ambient Dawn". It is a couple of years old and has a tremendous line up of artists. The ambient tends to lean towards trance and is very beaty. If you see this 2 disc set - buy it! Alec McKay

I suspect this is completely innaccurate. Perhaps Euro record companies are easier to work with vis a vis licensing; perhaps there are some technicalities to the copyright laws in Europe that make it easier, but the same process applies: You have to obtain license to redistribute each track from the owner of the track. --------------------------------------------------------------------- "i love the smell of new carpet. it makes me dizzy. just like when you fall in love." -- Mike Dvorkin Home Page, featuring Reagan on Black Velvet, the EMP Compilation CD, samples of my music, etc http://soli.inav.net/~kent/ Kent Williams kent@inav.net CADSI 2651 Crosspark Road Coralville IA 52241 (319) 338 6053 (home) (319) 626 6700 x 219 (work) (319) 626 3489 (fax)

I'm sorry, but Europe has the same level of copright laws that we have here in the U.S. AFAIK, Italy is the only country in Europe with less-than-absolutely-rigid copright laws, and we don't see a ton of comps coming out of there, do we? The only reason we see better comps coming out of Europe is that there's a larger market for that kind of music. That's all. I just heard from a supposedly savvy record store owner that in fact it is cheaper to produce these comps in Germany than in the U.S. He didn't have time to elucidate. 3
