The usual Friday night Vinyl crowd is one I work hard to avoid. Suburban hoodies selling exctasy. So I fully expected the line fiasco and barage of kiddies selling fake exctasy. So I hung out in the second room for awhile. I really didn't pay much attention to who was DJ'ing when. Didn't listen to Freeform when they played, but came out of hiding when Autechre went on at 2:30 am. At the time, I thought it was Aphex. But I really liked what they (played?, spun?, noodled?). Especially for never being a big fan before. Then some DJ (Mark Broom?) came one and spun boring and repetitive techno for two hours. I sat around waiting for better music to come. At 4:30 one of my friends told me it wansn't Aphex but Autechre that spun at 2:30. So I got psyched up for a RDJ set. 5:30 am marked the beggining of RDJ's set. It was so nice. I'm not an Aphex trainspotter like the rest of you sickos, and I have no idea what he played besides the "Pirelli Tire" Song. But It was definitely the harsher abstract stuff. It was phenomenal. But that shtuff is so hard to dance to. It's tougher then jungle. He played "Three's the magic number" half way through to give us a break. He played until 6:30 am. There must have been one or two of you idm sickos out there with me. I was the kid with the chin-length blonde hair, white stripe on gray short sleeve athletic shirt and white on black pumas. I received a free Eurowarp tape for being one of the last people on the dance-floor. I had my brush with RDJ. He walked out on the dance floor after his set to leave. I patted him on the shoulder. He walked back and said "Hello??". I meant to say, "Hello Mr. James, that was a great set, and I really like your music." But it came out as "Ummm.... ". He walked away. They kicked me out 7:30. I walked home to the East Village. I'm still in pain from dancing so hard. Brian (*) Fresh and Full of Life Brian Tang NYC http://silly.com/~tang

Wow, sounds like my assessment of the situation as well.

Again. You echoed my thoughts. (I wrote a blech in breif review from my old address aran@mit.edu we may see it sooner or later).

Well, his set was a big deal in my book. Brian (*) Fresh and Full of Life Brian Tang NYC http://silly.com/~tang
