The previous correspondent didn't seem to mention it, but Jega played live
at this SKAM 'Block Party'. He clearly lacks experience but it was mostly
good stuff, with a quite chunky d&b element. There were snippets of one of
the tracks from the SKAM ep and a reworked version of a mad
child-singing/detuned piano/d&b rhythm tune I first heard on Disengage a
while ago, not knowing who it was.
Autechre were their usual uncompromising selves, the whole set leading up
to an incredible moment during the last tune when all the elements suddenly
coalesced. Knowing them this bears little resemblance to anything that
will be released, which is in some ways a pity but on the other hand they
are always more interesting than a simple regurgitation of album material.
All the DJs were hmmm, how you say, 'top sorted nice one'? (mighty fine) -
the good news is Andy Maddocks will be at the next Blech, along with Ae.
Well, it's good news for me.
