this album is absoulutely brilliant and i STRONGLY reccommend it. acey's
work is very (sorry, i hate to use this word) cerebral. his rhyme patterns
i can describe only as a more intelligent and diverse hiero style- very
west coast yet unique- but the content matter of this album (and of the
majority of his work) is very original. in "the book of human language," he
expounds on different concepts, each of which are "chapters": the
guidelines, the balance, the hurt, the walls and the windows, the faces,
etc.
the beats (courtesy of producer mumbles) are real nice, often going outside
of the normal 4/4 structure of most hip-hop- there's a lot of stuff in 6, a
song in ten, etc. a lot of jazz samples (mahavishnu, bitches brew, etc.).
this album is DEFINITELY worth your attention as it is- in my humble
opinion- IDM for hip-hop.
*i apologize to you IDM purists (who have made their presence known- you
know who you are) for this relatively off-topic post. if you are mad at me,
respond privately. don't waste other people's time!!!!
