I was reading Teep's post yesterday. There is NO WAY that J4 should be played at 45. Just no way. Unless the black and white/yellow and white versions were recorded at different speeds. Mine is black and white, and it is definitely 33. Andrew

Hehe... I had this same argument with a friend over the J5. I believe they're both 45-ers, but I play some of the tracks off the J5 at 33 and pitch them up. Sadly, I only have the J4 on tape (at 45). ;) --jeff onNow: ebi - _ten_ [space teddy] Very pretty laid-back idm from Susumu Yokota. Recommended... -- auricle@io.com

I stand firm. 45 RPM's I tend to pitch it down. Can I get a witness?

Ok. Here's a way to end this discussion. Who has both the World Techno Tribe CD and the J4? The CD has J4 track 1 on it (mislabled as an AFX tune). Listen to it and see what the CD track sounds like--45 or 33. Or, if someone just has the CD, tell us the running time on it and we'll time that track off of J4. Andrew

The J9 is easy enough because he uses the same sample he used on SAW I on We Are The Music Makers. Tim

Witnessed and heard. Mine's B&W and usually played at about 42 and a half rpm. Ok, I seem to be outnumbered on this one, but it sound so fuckin GOOD on 33, especially Popcorn and Cordialotron. I wonder if it is a product of the way I first heard it, which was 33. I accept 45 as the speed for J9ii because it sounds like shit at 33. But on the J4, 45 just sounds too hyper and fast, whereas at 33 it is more of a groove I can get into... Andrew
