Seeing 'intelligent house' crop up in again in CiM's review of Round
Two reminded me of some excellent records...
Has anyone heard the trilogy of EPs by Herbert on Phono records?
(Herbert also records as Wishmountain and Dr Rockit). Wow, I picked up
part 2 yesterday and one of my mates just got the promo of part 3
through from Fat Cat, they're both *awesome*! Deep, deep house drawing
on Basic Channel, the earlier and better Deep Dish stuff, and in general
deep US grooves. Buy on sight, it's prety limited apparently (and if
anyone can help me out with finding part 1 I'd love them to death)...
Also (I may have mentioned this before), 'New York, New York' by
Secret Ingredients. This is the latest pseudonym for Pritchard and
Middleton, and as the title suggests it's a NY-style deep house groove.
Two excellent mixes, I just can't get enough of this at the moment. It's
on Universal Language, which I assume is the new name for Evolution
since their logo appears on the record. They apparently couldn't
continue as Evolution because there was already a Scottish bouncy techno
label with that name.
I don't know about anyone else, but I never managed to find *any* of
the original Evolution releases, until 7 (Antacid) was licensed to Warp.
Again, I'm pretty desperate to get my hands on these so if you can help
let me know...
Finally, has anyone else got any recommendations for good deep house
in this Herbet/Octave One/Prescription/430 West/Chez Damier etc flavour?
Some proper reviews to follow this weekend...
see ya
