hey all, i can cast some light on some of the questions about scene-musicians and things. -- For those raving about Dune/Orange, he is indeed really rather special. As mentioned, he's part of the slightly amorphous collective BrothomStates (which seems to also include BakedFred and Yolk sometimes, two other Helsinki-based musicians, someone correct me if I'm wrong!) Anyhow, Distance (Lackluster) hosts the BrothomStates (real-life-releases!) discography at: http://www.scene.org/~esa/bsdiscog/index.html ..and there's more Dune/BS stuff, including the live set and a bunch of MODs and MP3s at: ftp://ftp.scene.org/pub/music/artists/dune/ ..and there's an Orange directory on ftp.scene.org with a bunch of their amazing PC demos if you never saw them. A good guide to the best scene-demos nowadays for those with reasonably decent PCs: http://www.scene.org/main.html - 'viewing tips' go grab 'em all ;) -- Umm, as someone said, Karl/Kosmic (http://www.kosmic.org) is the ubiquitous Bogdan, so you can source more of his early stuff there. -- Martin Iveson, aka Nuke/Anarchy+Lemon. or latterly Spaceman, is still working, as far as I know at Core Design (people who did "Tomb Raider", fact-fans). His house-y stuff as Atjazz is released partially on the D.I.Y label outta Sheffield, I think? Oldskool demo-legend Dan/Anarchy also codes at Core and DJs house. There's an Atjazz track on the 'Live At The Social Vol.3' compilation from Heavenly. That's all I know.. -- The Lizardking stuff isn't really idm-related (more synth-pop!) but the Fashion8 stuff was a duo with another guy, I think I saw them play live in Holland at a demo-party in '95 actually! Nice stuff, if a bit cheesy.. -- Other demo-scene people who went on to do more famous stuff? Patrick Lindsey was Bass/The Silents, and has released on Harthouse and a bunch of other German labels. Someone told me Christian Vogel (Super_Collider, etc..) used to track MODs a whole bunch before he got published.. -- I used to be in the demo-scene on Amiga too, wayback - was Hollywood/Jetset+Skid Row, also in Axis, and Valhalla on the PC. Most of the Monotonik guys are scene-related, too.. Sorry about this scene-music obsession, btw, those who've been touched by the whole geekhackerdemoscenething seem to be just a bit too evangelical about it. Some really talented people come out of it, tho, so I guess it's worth it in the long run.. :) regards, h0l. ______________________________________________________ Get Your Private, Free Email at http://www.hotmail.com --------------------------------------------------------------------- To unsubscribe, e-mail: idm-unsubscribe@hyperreal.org For additional commands, e-mail: idm-help@hyperreal.org
