Bet that subject made you wonder!
For those lucky (European) ones who have access to a motorized
satelitte dish, you should check out the German channel VIVA. It's on
the Intelsat satelitte (where BBC World and NBC Super Channel are,
amongst others), and the program is "Hausfrau" (you gotta love those
Germans ;) The intro to this show is amazing, and if you didn't know
the meaning of the word "kitsch" - or was that "camp"- you will after
this.
Anyway, the point is that most of the time the program suck rocks, as
the saying goes, but once in a while they hit right on target. Last
weeks show was one of those. There was interviews with *both*
Autechre and Ken Ishii, and although German channels always screw up
things by dubbing foreign programs/languages, you can make out what
they actually say if you turn up the volume, or, even better
understand five or six German words (musicians generally don't use too
many fifteen-letter words). And, most importantly, they showed Mr.
Ishii's new video, "Extra", which is a Japanese cartoon ("Manga"?),
and Autechre's new one, "2nd Bad Vilbel".
"Hausfrau" is on Fridays at 22:00, Saturdays at 13:00, and Tuesdays
at 24:00, and lasts for one hour. For those who doesn't notice: This
means you can watch Ishii and Autechre at 24:00 *tonight* (Eine
Kleine Nachtmusik, ja?).
