I assume by your reference to BOC's "secret weapon" you mean that "full" sounding lead that they use often? It really sounds like any number of 3 oscillator synths. I would say a waldorf pulse, but I believe that I've heard tracks on "twoism" which have that sound and it came out before the pulse was in existence. (right?) Anyhow, it has a very processed moog-y sound. Barring them using any of the newer moog-ish sounding midi-equipped synths, I would guess a mini with lots of chorus and a nice reverb. (About as "secret" as the oberheim matrix-1000 sounds on SAWII) Even though it's been discussed to death: "Hooper bay" and the other "secret" BOC pressings are most likely test pressings. I would hazard a guess that some of the tracks off these albums showed up in MHTRTC, seeing as that's the case with High Scores and Twoism. $100 for a CDR? You must be one of those gainfully employed list members. I too would like a copy of the 3x12" for kicks, but I have a feeling that the copies are for the most part gone. I'm sure I'll see a copy on ebay soon for more money than I'd like to pay, tho.
