Sheesh. Is this stuff starting to bug anyone else? If you're selling records, sell them. All this "limited edition" stuff reminds me of baseball cards or something. -- dave walker, detroit art services _ marmoset@conch.aa.msen.com born freeke <A HREF="http://www.msen.com/~marmoset/">Dave Walker</A>

NO SHIT! Is it me or isn't ALL techno/dance music "limited edition" since singles only get pressings of a couple thousand or so. When the majors start coming out with things that are stamped "limited edition of 20,000" it makes me laugh. Like oh WOW! I'm one of 20,000 suckers that bought into this BULLSHIT! I never bought ISDN. They re-released it anyway so now what? Is it limited to 40,000? What a crock! I still see copies at record stores ALL THE TIME! I've got 100% Pure's 7th release by Edge Of Motion which is limited to 500 copies!!! Now THAT'S limited! I wish record companies would stop feeding us crap that doesn't make sense anyway. If a major is going take the time to put out anything in the first place you bet your ass it's going to be a full production run. How else are they going to make money? Do you think they really CARE about the music they put out? HELL NO! It's all money folks. It's got to sell and sell LOTS or else they don't give a shit. Oh sorry. I'm ranting a bit too much so I'll shut up now. I just HATE majors! Don't buy in to it folks. Ha ha, my man Dave, dropping science as usual. Word. rbcIII the lovebot <robot@crl.com> said: When the

Yup. Well put. I went round and round with this ISDN topic awhile ago here on this list, and I bet it pissed a lot of people off, and I'm sure everyone is sick of it, but this stuff needs to be said! It's good to hear more voices (from the minority, it seems). Consumers have power, not just the producers.

Yup, most likley. I they wanna press comp CD's to expose people to new unheard-of artists, licensed from the artists own indie labels, that's one thing, sure. But doing the fake "DJ only" white labels and all these supposed "limited edition" of one million - with poster, video, interactive press kit, etc. well, that's BS to me. It just sucks when they pose like indies, I think. Majors exist for a reason, if you accept that reason, than buy, buy, buy, away. If you don't accept that reason, than spend your money elsewhere. It's that simple. Just know what they're all about. peace ________________________________________________________________________ | Matt MacQueen | | multimedia/WWW production | |===================================| |==================================| | macqueen@student.msu.edu | | human interface, CD-ROM | |________________________________________________________________________| -8 -6 -4 -2 0 +2 +4 +6 +8

I don't really see what all the fuss is about. So they say ISDN was limited to X copies. I found one with no trouble. The tag "limited edition" didn't effect the price, as it was the same price I'd always pay for an imported EP . I bought it becasue I wanted to hear it, not to save it in the bag for my children. It was a decent record. Am I missing something? -- Mark Bowen mb@gettins.bche.uic.edu "The universe," said [the devil], "is a Ph.D thesis that God was unable to successfully defend." -James Morrow
