I'm back, as if anyone gives a shit! Anyway... I found an interesting as in my local paper for a Roland TR-505 for $200. Should I go ahead and get it? What kinds of sounds does it make? Has any IDM artist ever use a 505? I'm putting my gear list together & i'm hoping that this is an essential item. About the Intergalactic Beats CD, it is still up for sale or trade. I am in dire needs of: Objets D'Art 4LP-New Electronica Bytes vinyl 2LP-Warp e-mail your possible wants, and I'll see if I have it. I do specialise in Detroit stuff... Derek Jordan

A 505 was probably the cheesiest Roland X0X put out. Since it has the name Roland and the X0X designation, people think it is worth something. Basically it's a scaled down 626. It has 16 sampled sounds. Nothing real exotic. The sounds aren't modifiable. It has one of those LCD screens for it's pattern based sequencer. No separate outs. It does have MIDI. And thats about it. I wouldn't pay more than $75 US for it. For $200 you can find one of those BOSS Dr. rhythm things, or even an Alesis HR-16 which much more useful. I got my 505 for free. ======================================================================== = Larry Leitner leitner@cs.odu.edu = A-Juno-2, TR-505, XD-5 = = WODU AM64 - Techno, Trance, and Ambient = PG-300, Q-80, SE-50 = ========================================================================
