Omar is currently putting out bad-ass Brooklyn hardcore on his own H2Oh record label straight outta Bellerose, Queens. I remember seeing his name on something from back in the day, but I forget what. Can anyone enlighten me? - Matthew

Small world, my ex roomate/dj partner is living with Omar Santana. Omar has his H20H record label, as well as a new label called Tricked Out Recordings which has one release so far called "The Dark Side of the Shroom" which is kind of like the Dust Brothers with a lot more samples, It even samples the Aphex Twin. There are some more releases on the way for Tricked Out which will be focusing on "Hard Hop" as they call it. Omar has his hardcore techno/gabber releases coming out quite often on H2OH, which has prompted him to say "I am the hardest motherfucker in the world," in an interview I have seen. And yes, he is a cousin of Carlos Santana from Santana. Omar Santana? C'mon, gimme a break :). I gather he still churns out the same lame 70's MOR jazz-fusion his music mutated into around 79/80. This is the sort of stuff I listened to even before high school.. With tons of smileys and no hard feelings :)... Oyvers

Omar, of course, is the virtuoso behind the transcendentally beautiful track "Step the Fuck Back" from his Slave Invaders EP. I guess there must be another Omar Santana... I got a similarly bizarre reply from Des as well. The Omar I'm thinking of released electro/miami-bass inflected dance toons like "Come On And Jam" and stuff under the name Oh-Bonic.
