OK, first of all, I don't want any grief from the purists on this one, OK? :) I'm as big a snob as the rest of you, I just can't freaking find ANYONE ELSE who knows this, so I decided to risk getting my head chopped off: OK, the movie blade, the second nightclub scene, just before they interrgoate Pearl with the UV lamp...You know those little japanese schoolgirl hotties doing the rapping? WHO ARE THEY???? I bought that stupid soundtrack just to figure it out and THEY ARENT ON IT!!! Someone told me it was Cibo Mato, so I bought one of THEIR crappy CDs and it was nothing like that either....A-r-g-h! An interesting other point, I'd had no idea thet New Order did "That Blade Song" from the slaughterhouse club...Errr... So any of you folks know who the group is? If so, they gots a rekkid out? Forgive my ig-nernts if this is common knowledge, and forgive my offtopicness...this stuff drives me MAD. Just to make this more on-topic, Aphex has an uncredited track in there at the start somewhere. Something from Surfing on SineWaves or SAW, can't really remember off the top of my head. And on a similar-ish thread, is PI any good? The film that is, not the mathematical symbol. I think it's proved it's usefulness in the maths area, but I was just wondering if I'm going to like anything about the film other than it's soundtrack. seeya bye! Eddie

Yep, PI is an excellent movie, not only (but also) because of the soundtrack. It's a little pearl, short on duration and with a somehow creepy and surrealistic ambient. It restpects silence, not silence as in "without music" but in the way of mixing IDM with "slow" and reflexive scenes. The one where we listen to "Kalpol Introl" from Autechre's Incunabula is excellent. I've seen the movie almost a year ago and i still remember it perfectly. Really, go ahead and watch the movie! ____________________________________________ Luís Carlos da Silva Marta e-mail: lmarta@enabler.pt <mailto:lmarta@enabler.pt> web: http://gil.di.uminho.pt/~lmarta Incomplete without surface noise. While listening to the commentary track of the Blade DVD, I recall the name Shonen Knife popping up during this scene...

Nor did I, until I found some New Order MP3s circulating and said to myself "hey, that sounds familiar..." Pretty hardcore track, methinks. superfuzz@home.com --------------------------------------------------------------------- To unsubscribe, e-mail: idm-unsubscribe@hyperreal.org For additional commands, e-mail: idm-help@hyperreal.org

If I remember correctly that track is actually a remix of everythings gone green. The remixer was the advent (someone correct me if I am wrong -- working from a faulty memory here) -daniel --------------------------------------------------------------------- To unsubscribe, e-mail: idm-unsubscribe@hyperreal.org For additional commands, e-mail: idm-help@hyperreal.org

Hey, who was originally posting about this movie? I recall them asking about a song sung my three japanese girls, and I happened upon information about it while looking for something else. "Mystery solved!! According to sources, the song in ?Blade? in which the Japanese shoolgirls are singing is called ?Chin Chin.? It was composed by Damien Wagner and performed by Bang Wa Cherry. The song was written for the film and was sung by the girls you see in the movie. The DJ in the movie is DJ June, who also did the DJ work for the track. The song is not available on the soundtrack and it isn't clear, yet, whether any of the artists responsible for that song have released any of their work. So keep on eye out for any future releases by Bang Wa Cherry, DJ June, and Damien Wagner!" http://www.geocities.com/Tokyo/Shrine/4820/shonen.html ---- "There is no gang of 'intelligent techno' freaks here who break showroom windows to steal pocket calculators." - Jouni Alkio Jeff Pitrman [cCM] jeff@spof.net http://bling.spof.net --------------------------------------------------------------------- To unsubscribe, e-mail: idm-unsubscribe@hyperreal.org For additional commands, e-mail: idm-help@hyperreal.org
