Went to the Limelight last night to see Vapourspace, Prototype 909 and
Bill Laswell. All played excellent sets. I couldn't believe the sounds
Laswell was wrenching from his bass. His performance just consisted of
him, his instrument and a huge wall of speakers about 8 feet high and 20
feet wide. Vapourspace was especially wicked, mixing, remixing and
layering his old stuff. Unfortunately, I had to take off just when he
started playing his new stuff so I can't judge what his new stuff will
sound like.
Also, by some miracle of the techno gods, Wednesday the 21 will bring:

EAT STATIC
BANCO DE GAIA
to the Limelight! INCREDIBLE!!! How did such a cheezy club suddenly
start getting these bands?!? Incidentally, the Limelight probably has
the best sound system I have ever heard at a club. I can't believe I
didn't sustain bass-induced internal damage from the show last night.
