well i thought that the original quote basically threw out all (or at least most) of
trance music because it was three notes repeated. it doesn't seem like he was saying
'bad trance music is overly repetitious', but 'trance music is bad because it is
overly repetitious'. in which case, applying his quote to ambient music that has the
same 'repetitious' character seems justified. surely he can't be saying that dance
music needs to be more complex than 'listening' music, can he?
