way off topic here,
but i know there are an awful lot of techies out there, and i'm pretty
ignorant of these things.
i have an ancient G4 (with 340mhz processor!) that i have had great success
on, running huge protools files and processing big audio stuff. i have no
complaints. a little slow, but it works.
i'm interested in getting into video work though and i know my current
set-up would collapse under the pressure. i'm looking to get a new mac as
cheaply as possible that will let me play with small amounts of video (we're
talking a half hour at a time of stock footage) and burning directly onto
dvd...
i want to get the souped up $800 mini...

but have heard the new imacs are better suited. then a video artist friend
told me he knows someone who does tons of video on a macmini with no
problems and that he has seen computer labs of imacs trying to crunch video
and just spinning wheels.
what's a guy to think?
xo,
nat
