I saw Depeche Mode in Seattle a few weeks ago. I haven't heard the new
album, and I'm not a big fan of the band, though I've always liked
them. The show was GREAT. The show was in a large arena and I was
skeptical that an "electronic" band would be engaging in that venue.
Dave Gahan is very active and all over the stage. they have such a
large volume of recordings, that I kept thinking "oh yeah, that's
another good song I forgot about" . The live drummer was excellent, and
Martin Gore is a fine guitarist.
The show featured some of the best live video work I've ever seen. Live
footage, mixed with pre-recorded video, and run through some cool
filters.
Highlights for me were Everything counts, Just can't get enough and
Personal Jesus. I wasn't familiar with much of the newer material.
The crowd was full of people in their 30s, wearing black with cool
glasses :-) but there were lots of others there as well.
