I mean, IDM is so amorphous a term that many of my favorite IDM artists
could also be labelled other genres as well.
Amon Tobin could be trip hop
Squarepusher could be break beat
Loscil could be ambient
I've actually moved on from IDM to New Cumbia with the likes of Reple,
Uruba Marinka, El Peche and Meraki, all from the Sonido Tropico label. The
tech wizardry in IDM was an amazing thing to behold, but I find myself
drawn more and more to south American bears with a more melodic theme.
