i totally agree... people who buy a vehicle, then complain that they're not getting the mileage stated on the window of the vehicle at the dealership must be morons. there is not ONE company number or yield in any product that is accurate. two examples: 1. when you buy a new fridge, it tells you how much money you'll save on your electrical bill by getting a fridge that uses less electricity. that's total bullshit. they get those numbers by putting the fridge on the lowest setting and never opening the door. which is great, if you never want to go inside your fridge and you live in alaska. 2. copiers. copy/print yields on toner cartridges. if a toner cart says you'll get 10,000 pages out of it, you'll probably get 6,500. how do they get those numbers you ask? it's tests they did by coping one letter sized piece of paper with 5% coverage on the page. that's a small paragraph in the middle of a white piece of paper. average coverage per page used in offices? 28% and remember, they tested the machine when it was new, as the machine ages and the optics get dusty toner yields can drop 20% to 35%. so yeah, if you believe miles per gallon, copies per cartridge, or electricity saved per month, you'll be in for a lot of disappointments. -kiya --------------------------------------------------------------------- To unsubscribe, e-mail: idm-unsubscribe@hyperreal.org For additional commands, e-mail: idm-help@hyperreal.org
