Do you want low latency softsynths, or a recording interface? the ECHO card will give you lower latency with music production. The Ozone will give you a more "all in one" package that woudl be fine for recording, but not so much for using softsynths due to the overhead that USB takes. In my opinion, usb soundcards just "aren't there yet." And probably won't be, since FW soundcards are on the market and doing a good job. If you want more octaves, edirol makes a good controller, too.
