Yes, and the results are sightly disappointing. The bros seem keen to find an outlet for Born-again 303-ism, and Cane, at this stage at least, would appear to be that outlet. The A-side, 'Teknotest', certainly, fails to transcend its origins as an extended 303 workout of banging 4/4 techno genericity. The B-side, 'Fall', however, redeems this with a nicely broken-up drum pattern attended by Quench-type sonorous synth chords and further 303 fetishism. The fly in an otherwise immaculate IDM-techno hybrid ointment is the entry and insistence of a neo-classical arpeggiating synth pattern in the most plonking of pre-set keyboard tones that hangs around till the end by which time you've hopefully managed to EQ it out in your mind's ear. I realise that this project gives expression to their less 'sophisticated' and 'ruffer' side, but I'd still say they need to try harder next time. alan On Sun, 15 Feb 2004 18:55:38 -0330 Portis <portis@warp.nfld.net> wrote:
