The irony is that it's an anti-imperialist holiday celebrated by an imperialist country. The Guardian article mentioned lots of other details that are quite amusing, so look for it if you are interested. But speaking of tykes & grandmas and holidays, Thanksgiving is a pretty absurd myth that is celebrated. Of course, fake and sanitized history is a very important part of the American experience. < I believe the article in the Guardian originally appeared in Cuba's national paper..
