Yeah I'm not the oldest on the list :)
I've been trying to think of what I first bought for a while and your post
reminded me.
I thought of the time when a friend sold me Kraftwerks "Electric Cafe" coz
he didn't like it. It was the first CD played on my first portable CD player
(size of a house brick). But that wasn't it.
I thought of the time that a co-worker got me into Tangerine Dream coz the
company we where working for was dupin there back catalogue.
Concert in Poland, Optical Race (alas the last TD album worth listening to
IMO) and all the old 70's stuff is amazing. But that wasn't it.
But your post fired a long dormant neuron.
It was the Shamen.
My bestest m8 said "I've got free tickets to go see this band called The
Shamen, I've heard they are great. You wanna go?".
Was in Oxford, at the co-op hall.
And it was fucking amazing. I absolutely lost it and haven't looked back
since.
Which all led on to the trips to london for some MegaDogs and seeing Nitzer
Ebb and Front 242.
Oh my the memories come flooding back :) The Orb doing Little Fluffy clouds
at sunset at Glastonbury.....
Thanks Paul for reminding me of something amazing that I'll try not to
forget for a while.
