Yo,
I'm trying to get into dancehall ragga stuff, but finding it a liitle
hard to know where to start. Following on from some of the Timbaland sounds,
the 'Now Thing' compilation on Mo'Wax got me hooked, and I've got to have
more of those stuttering beats and weird, minimal acid lines. Although that
album was all instrumental, I've heard a few vocal 'tings that were great
too - 'Jailbrake' by Sizzla was one.
Basically, if anybody knew of a few more compilations that would help me
find my feet in the scene, that would be great. Also, classic albums that I
could check. Nothing too melody-based, just raw and minimal like I said.
Lastly (before the shirt off anyone's back), scene websites would be nice
too. Come to think of it, if someone could just buy me a house in Kingston,
that would probably sort out thew whole darn problem.
Awaitng missives,
Papa D.
