LA PORTE SEULEMENT / AT THE DOOR ONLY!!! ***PREMIER ARRIV?, PREMIER SERVI / FIRST COMED, FIRST SERVED*** DJ Vadim DJ VADIM AND THE RUSSIAN PERCUSSION SET TO TOUR Ninja Tune recording artist DJ Vadim and his band the Russian Percussion (featuring ex-Scratch Pervert Mr. Thing, MC?s Demolition Man and Yarah Bravo) are set to tour the US. Founder of Jazz Fudge in early 1995, A&R, producer, DJ, promoter, beat digger and occasional painter, DJ Vadim has been more than active in the past 5 years, in nearly every aspect of hip-hop music. He has been Djing hip-hop, breaks, beats, funk, and even jungle (at 33 1/3rd), for over 12 years. He?s performed with the likes of DJ Krush, Company Flow, The Arsonists, Pharcyde, ISP, DJ Theodore, Beat Junkies, Dilated Peoples, Kraftwerk, Ed Rush, Morcheeba, at events from Glastonbury to Moscow Street ball, and everywhere between. Formed in the autumn of 1999 by DJ Vadim to perform tracks from his album's live , The Russian Percussion takes live hip-hop where it's never been... where it always should be! This underground super-group brings together two master turntablists, DJ Vadim and ex-Scratch Pervert Mr. Thing, and the cool styling MCs Demolition Man, and Yarah Bravo. Together, they put on a show that is equal parts cutting edge hip-hop extravaganza of the highest order, and entertainment of the first degree. They have performed at over 100 shows in over 14 countries including most of Europe. Now they bring their revolution to American shores. The emphasis is on LIVE, turning it into a medium of its own. Original tracks are taken from the talents of each artist, released and unreleased are reworked live on the spot. Well loved routines are expanded, cover versions of more famous tracks performed and exclusive freestyle jams both musical and vocal, evolve, keeping the energy high and each show unique. THIS IS A LIVE REVOLUTION. A NEW MUSICAL HIP-HOP ADVENTURE. Last year DJ Vadim and collaborator Sarah Jones made headlines when the FCC fined a local Portland radio station $7,000 for airing their song "Your Revolution." The banning of "Your Revolution" outraged fans and the media alike and the story has been covered in Spin, The Village Voice, Rolling Stone and The New York Times among other high profile media outlets. "Your Revolution" is clearly a feminist statement that derails feminist exploitation. The song is featured on Vadim?s classic 1999 Ninja Tune release, USSR: Life from the Other Side. This January, in an unusual counteroffensive, Sarah Jones filed suit against the FCC saying they violated her first amendment rights by fining the Portland station. Look for USSR- The Art of Listening the new album from DJ Vadim this fall on Ninja Tune. The album will again feature the talents of Sarah Jones along with contributions from Motion Man (Masters Of Illusions); Gift Of Gab (Blackalicious); Vakil; Babu; Yarah Bravo; TTC; Killer Kela; Demolition Man and more. The first single from the record "Til Suns In Your Eyes" featuring Motion Man will be released in June. _________________________________________________________________ Get your FREE download of MSN Explorer at http://explorer.msn.com/intl.asp. --------------------------------------------------------------------- To unsubscribe, e-mail: idm-unsubscribe@hyperreal.org For additional commands, e-mail: idm-help@hyperreal.org
