First off, love the artwork. I never knew there were such possibilities with a simple terrazo effect. I'd love to see these guys getting heavy into film. As for the moment of truth, it did me well. Upon first listen (a casual one), it sounded like a slightly updated Music Has the Right. But this is definitely the type of album that grows on you very fast. It's been in my stereo ever since it left the digipak, and that's a very rare situation for me. You'll need headphones. On the surface, the tracks seem very hazy and lo-fi, but when you break out the headset, you'll notice more things and come to more realizations. On "Music Is Math" (or was it "Gyroscope?"), you'll notice a very peculiar vocal acting as a watermark, but you can't make it out. Later in the track, the vocal reveals itself more understandably. And then you see. BoC certainly capture a conceptual vibe that is untouchable to anyone else on Warp, or anyone else in electronic music for that matter. In fact, "The Devil Is in the Details" is one of the best tracks Warp has ever released. Now, just how do you pronounce "Geogaddi?" Call it a silly, recurring question on this list, but I host a radio show, and I'd rather not resort to, "That was Boards of Canada, off the new Giddle-diddy LP." I'm sure BoC haven't assigned a formal pronunciation to it, but I'm sure some ways are more proper than others. How about Geo - Gad(not Jad) - Die ? Does that work for anyone? -char _________________________________________________________________ Chat with friends online, try MSN Messenger: http://messenger.msn.com --------------------------------------------------------------------- To unsubscribe, e-mail: idm-unsubscribe@hyperreal.org For additional commands, e-mail: idm-help@hyperreal.org
