I love all the pretty, soft techno Yokota records as much as the rest of you, but I want to give a shout out for the crazy disco-house records that he's put out: *1998* and *1999*. As someone who bought Magic Thread and immediately decided that I wanted everything this guy has ever done, those two records were the most shocking; here I am expecting quiet and I get nailed with totally insane disco string arrangements, a monster house beat and divas screaming gibberish. Totally in-yer-face. Seriously: Yokota's hard house records are just as deep, harmonically complex and imaginative as the quiet stuff, and are a blast to kick in your car stereo. Also, by all means grab the Leaf *Remix* 12" that came out about three years ago. He reworks sounds and samples from *Image* and transforms them into angular anthems. thump thump, rr. --------------------------------------------------------------------- To unsubscribe, e-mail: idm-unsubscribe@hyperreal.org For additional commands, e-mail: idm-help@hyperreal.org
