I love this sound and wonder if people are still out working in this area. It's so close to the Artificial Intelligence trax. Generally speaking it's "ambient techno" but there's a very particular vibe that tracks like "voice of the earth" hit ... it's gotta be chill without getting into "chillout" (so no mixmaster morris) and trancey without going full-on Planet Dog. My top 5 (aside from Sea Biscuit)
- Higher Intelligence Agency "Colourform" (or maybe "Freefloater"! can that still count as 1?!)
- Real LIfe "Journey of the Carcharadon" - under appreciated
- Pete Namlook and Jonah Sharp - "Alien Community 2" - perhaps a double entry, but there was a sequence of Namlook collabs in the 94-96 time frame that fucking killed it, and this was the best.
- Speedy J - "G Spot" - two tracks on AI 1, extended out into album length. 1995, holy shit.
- S.E.T.I - "The Geometry of Night" - now this *isn't* the SETI Arecibo/Phoenix double album on Instinct Ambient, though that is also fucking incredible, it's the Andrew Lagowski project released on Incoming! in 1996. Samples about aliens ratio is wayyy up there.

Sea Biscuit is more condensed and mysterious and not stretched out musically over a lot of different styles, but still sounds like classic STC. Lots to listen to.
