If someone is told how they should think/say/feel about a subject, even if
they agree, they will likely address the fact that they’re being told how
they should think/say/feel about the subject long before addressing the
actual subject itself. I’m surprised that you’re surprised that you told a
bunch of independent-minded muscians/music lovers how they should feel, and
you got a negative reaction, even if they do agree with your sentiment. We
don’t like to be told what to think/say/feel. You know this though :)
Beatwife has the right to have whatever name he wants. Freedom of speech
before all else. And you have the freedom to voice your opinion about how
you feel about his name, but making declarative statements about how other
people should react smells a bit funny, and will likely give you the same
reaction every time. It’s not what you say, it’s how you say it.
