There's a track on Brian Eno and David Byrne's "My Life in the Bush of
Ghosts" (1979) album that featured chopped up vocals. I think it was
called "Mea Culpa", but I haven't got my copy of it to hand.
Anyway, it's been much sampled over the years. 808 State's "Leo Leo"
springs to mind.
