We could never keep up with the int'l music scene here in HK until Napster came along...now we can listen to the latest releases at the same time as everyone else. No way would I be spinning Vladislav Delay, Monolake, and Sutekh on gigs here if it weren't for Napster and AudioGalaxy...and now I own many of the tracks on CD, I need the better-quality copies for DJing. I usually listen to MP3s and then order the CDs I want from Amazon or wherever. HMV robs us over here, they control most of the market and routinely charge US$20 and up for CDs, so I don't buy much there anymore. It's usually cheaper for me to order from Amazon than to buy from them, even including the cost of shipping, and it usually only takes 7-10 days to receive the orders. AudioGalaxy also lets us find the latest white labels and vinyl releases that we just can't get over here...really important. There are vinyl shops for DJs here but the selection is very limited. I just found another interesting site for buying music online: http://www.atrecordings.com/genrepages/electronicadance/index.asp You can listen to samples and then order vinyl or CD -- or just pick out the tracks you want and they make you a CD-R. The link above goes straight to the electronic music page, I think they have at least some music that might interest members of this list. (I have no connection with this site, just happened across it the other day.)
